DDotOmen.com had the opportunity to exclusively chop it up with the man responsible for Lloyd Banks third single success on the Billboard charts. In addition to producing a certified radio hit, Cardiak has been getting busy with Young Jeezy, Young Chris and long time collaborator Meek Mill (who recently signed to Maybach Music Group). We asked the the beatsmith about his feelings hearing Start It Up on the radio, working with titans such as Kanye West, Fabolous and Swizz Beatz, what he has in store for the future and reveals a song he has pending on 50 Cent’s next album.
You’ve been on quite the roll since landing “Start It Up“, how did it feel when you first heard the completed song with [Lloyd] Banks, Kanye West, Fabolous, Ryan Leslie and Swizz Beatz?
I was hype and really excited to be part of something big. I still go crazy when start it up comes on!!
Did Start It Up kill a bunch of birds with one stone for you? or do you have more artists you really want to work with but haven’t yet?
Kinda [laughs, but I still would like to continue and build with each artist that was on the song. I've kept in contact with each artist on Start It Up, so look out for me on future projects with them. There's a couple of artist i still haven't worked with that I would like to work with. Artists like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, etc. I also really want to explore the R&B and Pop side [of music].
Who’s a producer that influenced some of your style or sound? not borrow or bite but inspires and if you hear you go “damn! I got to step it up”?
I am inspired by all music and inspired by all producers. Anything that catches my ear inspires me to create something new.
We understand that you worked with 50 Cent recently, you cooked up anything for his next album?
Yes I actually have a joint on his next project called “Outlaw”, It’s crazy!
If you had to give us a summary of your life in 140 characters or less how would it go?
I live life to the fullest and I don’t take anything for granted. Blessed!
Has online outlets like blogs and Twitter helped your career, or play a role at all?
It has helped me a lot, [because] it’s an outlet that allows me to reach out to people that you normally wouldn’t be able to reach out to. I’ve made a lot of connects through twitter and being online.
What’s your thoughts on producer rappers? (producers who also rap I.E. Pharrell, Ryan Leslie, Kanye West)
I think it’s cool. I’m an artist myself, when I want to be, [laughs]..but on a serious note it gives the producer another way to express themselves more.
Have you downloaded any of Timbaland’s “Timbaland Thursday” releases? It’s okay if you haven’t, neither did we.
I heard a couple of them [laughs]…they’re dope.
Who are some new acts you looking forward to working with but haven’t yet or name some you have things in the works with?
Well I’ve been working with Meek Mill for a minute now. We have a lot of things brewing up for 2011. I would like to work with Wiz [Khalifa] and Cyhi [Da Prynce] on future projects, They’re dope as well.
