Drake Still Hoping For Sade Collab

@DrakkardNoir hasn’t given up his pursuit of the living legendary singer. A while back, Sade was asked about Drake and his aspirations for the two to work together, to which she responded she doesn’t like to step out of her element as far as working with other artists. Drizzy still remains optimistic telling MTV:

“That’s great. Her brand is always protected. That’s why,” Drake said of her comments on the set of his “Over” video last week in California. “Other people’s visuals, other people’s songs, stepping outside your zone can jeopardize your brand. It can bring you down as opposed to bring you up. I personally feel we could have done something amazing. But I don’t think she really knows who I am, really, my genre of music. I put it out there. It was more of a hopeful thing. It was a very early stage where I was at when I said that I was hoping. One day. Maybe after this album comes out.

“I’m very influenced by her,” he added. “She does something that I do. She doesn’t do too much with harmonies, and she keeps her vocals very clean. Single vocals. Haunting melodies. I’m influenced by her a lot. One day.”

Lil Wayne Wanted In Arizona

So of course we all know Lil Wayne is currently locked up in Rikers Island after a series of set backs, he’s set to do 8 months in the New York correctional facility. However, Weezy has also had a warrant out for him in Arizona for drug charges in 2008. Dwayne Carter had a court date for yesterday but missed it because..he’s um, yeah, already in jail?

Damian Marley Talks Lil Wayne Feature On Distant Relatives

Jr. Gong spoke to HHDX about the recently spilled beans of Weezy appearing on his collaborative album with Nas, Distance Relatives which is now set for a May release. When probed about the ability of Wayne bringing the younger crowd interest in his new project he replied

“It’s funny, because the track is called ‘My Generation,’” Damian answered with a chuckle. “It’s definitely geared towards that. [Lil] Wayne really showed a lot of respect in his verse, in the way that he handled it. He handled it exactly would’ve really loved him to. I don’t have any criticism at all about what he did. I think it’s a great and blessed track. That’s all I can really say about that.”

@DrakkardNoir took sometime out while in LA to talk to MTV about the first video from Thank Me Later, Over. The video is directed by Anthony Mandler, the mind behind some of Jay-Z’s videos on BP3.

“I’ve shot a lot of videos before, but this is my first attempt to establish myself as Drake the artist. Shooting the other videos I’ve done has been great. I really don’t care what other people think about them, they were great experiences for me. I’ve learned a lot from them. Today, I’m shooting with somebody I really look up to and respect. I’m shooting with Anthony Mandler.”

“The story is actually interesting. The song is so aggressive, and it’s sort of a love story in the video. It has a lot to do with the album [Thank Me Later]. The album is about finding love, feeling ‘Have I sold my soul’ as far as ‘Will I ever be able to gain the trust of a woman? Will I only be able to be around the dark, evil women? Will I ever find that pure love?’ Those elements are in the video. I look strong, I feel great, my knee’s feeling great. I’m jumping around, doing all kinds of stuff.”

Lupe Says Jay Electronica Collab Coming & Breaks Down Jay-Z Comment

@LupeFiasco spoke to MTV while at the Summit on the Summit: Kilimanjaro in New York. They asked him about the remark he made in not wanting to be Jay-Z .

“[My comments were] just an example using him of how people rate success. There’s an idea of the status quo that every rapper wants to be Jay-Z. Nah. Every rapper does not want to be Jay-Z. Every rapper don’t wanna be Kanye West. Everybody don’t wanna be Lil Wayne. They wanna be who they are. You’re a fool trying to chase that success down and manage it like that. I always look at my success as further than a dollar sign, further than record sales. Everybody thinks because you’re black and you’re from the ‘hood, you wanna be Jay-Z. There’s kids who wanna be astrophysicists and don’t care about rap. That should be OK. You should be OK just being you, working your regular job and being happy. That’s why I made that statement. I felt it need to be said.”

The FNF General also says Jay Electronica collaborations soon come.

“I reached out to him a couple of days ago with some real serious ideas, Let’s put a program together. Something that works out and makes sense for the both of us.’ He’s a very talented MC. One of the few MCs that I actually listen to what they’re saying. I don’t listen to 98 percent of the rappers out there. But he’s one of the MCs I listen to and I’m inspired to do so. A collaboration is in the works.”

Nina Sky Lobbying To Be Released From Their Label

the Albino sisters @NinaSky took to their twitter this evening blasting Bryan Leach (President of Polo Grounds). Alleging he has been ignoring them and not giving their project any effort toward releasing their LP. They claim to have had an album ready to be released for months with no sign or hope of when it will see the light of day.

Looks like Nina and Natalie are taking the LOX/Bad Boy approach with this one. Just hope no refrigerators are involved.
