Drake Still Hoping For Sade Collab

@DrakkardNoir hasn’t given up his pursuit of the living legendary singer. A while back, Sade was asked about Drake and his aspirations for the two to work together, to which she responded she doesn’t like to step out of her element as far as working with other artists. Drizzy still remains optimistic telling MTV:

“That’s great. Her brand is always protected. That’s why,” Drake said of her comments on the set of his “Over” video last week in California. “Other people’s visuals, other people’s songs, stepping outside your zone can jeopardize your brand. It can bring you down as opposed to bring you up. I personally feel we could have done something amazing. But I don’t think she really knows who I am, really, my genre of music. I put it out there. It was more of a hopeful thing. It was a very early stage where I was at when I said that I was hoping. One day. Maybe after this album comes out.

“I’m very influenced by her,” he added. “She does something that I do. She doesn’t do too much with harmonies, and she keeps her vocals very clean. Single vocals. Haunting melodies. I’m influenced by her a lot. One day.”

@DrakkardNoir spoke to MTV in between filming for his Over video to talk about the Captain of the Young Money ship. Drake vows that you won’t even miss Wayne.

Lil Wayne is a legend,” Drake said. “I could never classify Wayne as victim. He’s too strong to me. Wayne is who he wants to be. People don’t understand. It’s really not an act. Lil Wayne is a character you’ll rarely run across, probably for the existence of human beings. He is that guy. He is Lil Wayne for a reason. He’s a rock star, a visionary, a workaholic. He doesn’t function like anybody I know. He’s a rare breed.

@realTalibKweli @AffionCrockett came through @DeviDev’s show tonight with DJ EQue on the one’s and two’s. Affion talked about being on the new Reflection Eternal album; Revolution Is Per Minute, Affion did some skits on there. At around the 19:00 Minute mark Kweli talks about meeting Russell Simmons. At the 21:30 mark, Devi Dev put the two on the spot to do a freestyle and this is what they came up with.

@NickiMinaj took a minute out to give details about the video from her first single, Massive Attack. As WE provided the info yesterday, Hype Williams is the director of the video. Nicki spoke on how her and the famed video director linked up, as well described the scenes being shot. Amber Rose (her bff) is also down there with her for the shoot.

“The song is called ‘Massive Attack,’ ” she explained. “I’m excited for people to hear me … doing more than one verse. It’s really creative. Shout-out to [songwriter] Sean Garrett. I’ve always loved his style. He really kinda had a great idea of what I wanted to do. I wanted to be theatrical, but I am very serous about what I do. He was able to mesh that together and have a really fun but direct record, if that makes sense. … This video, it’s just, like, monsta. The video is a monsta.”

“I brought my BFF Amber Rose out here,” Nicki said while sitting in her ride. “This is a massive attack. We shot the helicopter scene. Obviously, I had to have a hot-pink Lamborghini. We’re having fun in the car, and we see a freakin’ helicopter chase us. So we get on the walkie-talkie, like, ‘Mayday! Mayday!’ It’s really fashion and beauty shots, and we’re acting like we’re doing something important.

“I kinda always like to do things in an unexpected fashion,” she added. “I didn’t want to shoot the typical new-artist vision. Thank God I have a wonderful label that stands behind me and my vision. I met Hype in a freakin’ airport. I didn’t recognize him without his dreads. We exchanged information, and it happened to be a week before I wanted to shoot a video. I told him the idea. Of course, I had to let Baby and Slim know and hope they would understand my expensive taste. It all came together. Sean Garrett is on the hook.”

Damian Marley Talks Lil Wayne Feature On Distant Relatives

Jr. Gong spoke to HHDX about the recently spilled beans of Weezy appearing on his collaborative album with Nas, Distance Relatives which is now set for a May release. When probed about the ability of Wayne bringing the younger crowd interest in his new project he replied

“It’s funny, because the track is called ‘My Generation,’” Damian answered with a chuckle. “It’s definitely geared towards that. [Lil] Wayne really showed a lot of respect in his verse, in the way that he handled it. He handled it exactly would’ve really loved him to. I don’t have any criticism at all about what he did. I think it’s a great and blessed track. That’s all I can really say about that.”

Drake The Artist Breaks Down The “Over” Video

@DrakkardNoir took sometime out while in LA to talk to MTV about the first video from Thank Me Later, Over. The video is directed by Anthony Mandler, the mind behind some of Jay-Z’s videos on BP3.

“I’ve shot a lot of videos before, but this is my first attempt to establish myself as Drake the artist. Shooting the other videos I’ve done has been great. I really don’t care what other people think about them, they were great experiences for me. I’ve learned a lot from them. Today, I’m shooting with somebody I really look up to and respect. I’m shooting with Anthony Mandler.”

“The story is actually interesting. The song is so aggressive, and it’s sort of a love story in the video. It has a lot to do with the album [Thank Me Later]. The album is about finding love, feeling ‘Have I sold my soul’ as far as ‘Will I ever be able to gain the trust of a woman? Will I only be able to be around the dark, evil women? Will I ever find that pure love?’ Those elements are in the video. I look strong, I feel great, my knee’s feeling great. I’m jumping around, doing all kinds of stuff.”
